Private & NHS Consultations

Mr. Soonawalla sees NHS patients at the Churchill Hospital (Monday pm for benign conditions and Friday am for suspected cancers). You will need to be referred to the hospital by your GP.

Mr. Soonawalla sees patients privately at the Nuffield Manor Hospital on Tuesday afternoons. It is preferable to have your GP refer you to the clinic, though the clinic also sees patients who self-refer.

If you would prefer to have a telephone consultation to avoid having to travel to the Nuffield Manor Hospital, please let the secretary know.

If you have private medical insurance, please provide the details when you request an appointment. The team will be able to work with your insurer, and provide clear information about the costs of treatment. It is important that you obtain authorisation from your insurer for any appointment or treatment beforehand, otherwise they may not agree to fund your care. Please also check with your insurer if there is any excess to pay, so that you are not faced with unexpected bills.

Mr. Soonawalla is registered with all major medical insurers.

BUPA

The Oxford Gallstone Clinic will provide you with the cost for a consultation prior to the appointment. The cost of a 30-minute consultation for a new patient is £200. For patients who are uninsured, the Nuffield Manor Hospital provides a self-pay package for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Once you have seen Mr. Soonawalla and agreed to proceed with surgery, the package will cover the cost of your treatment, even if you need to stay in hospital longer than expected. Please see Fees page.
